During a system upgrade on 17th October 2022 some monthly charges were incorrectly allocated to a small range of gift cards leading to incorrect balances showing on these accounts for a short period. The error was identified immediately and all charges were reversed promptly. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused during the period 17th – 19th October. To use your gift card, please check your balance and validity first. To do so, follow these steps:
Step 1: Find the 16-digit card number and 3-digit CVV2 number either on the front or back of your gift card
Step 2: Enter the numbers in the matching fields
Step 3: Click the Check Balance button to check your value and validity
Please note the purchase date of this card and spend your card in the first 12 months to avoid the monthly charge €1.45 which applies after 12 months.
How to check balance by text
If you have any issues with our online balance check service please text ‘My Balance’ followed by your 16 digit card number to 57887 to receive an SMS stating your balance, or call 01 9068547 for our automated balance enquiry service.
Why do I need to know my balance?
One4all gift cards run on a Visa debit platform, retailers therefore cannot see the balance on your card at their tills. If a retailer attempts to process more than the balance on the card their till will receive a declined transaction message due to “insufficient funds” similar to a credit card transaction Retailers need to know that they are not attempting to deduct more money than is on the card, if you do not know the exact balance you may elect to tell the retailer to deduct a sum off the card that you know is below the current balance.
